GuideWell Connect Achieves NCQA Wellness and Health Accreditation

Brentwood, Tenn., September 4, 2020—GuideWell Connect, an innovative consumer-engagement, sales and marketing company in the health care industry, today announced that it has received a 3-year Wellness & Health Promotion (WHP) Accreditation with Performance Reporting from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

NCQA WHP Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers and consumers can use to assess wellness and health promotion programs. Accredited with Performance Reporting status is granted to wellness and health promotion organizations that have submitted a specific number of results for NCQA’s standardized WHP Performance Measures, in addition to meeting or exceeding NCQA’s standards. “We are extremely proud to have earned this highly coveted NCQA Accreditation,” said Mark McConnell, CEO at GuideWell Connect, Onlife Health, and PopHealthCare. “This Accreditation is an affirmation to our clients that GuideWell Connect meets and exceeds the highest evidence-based standards for wellness and health promotion. It’s also a tribute to the hard work and dedication of everyone on the GuideWell Connect team.”

According to NCQA, their standards are purposely set high to encourage wellness and health promotion organizations for continuous enhancement of their quality. No comparable evaluation exists for wellness and health promotion programs. The standards are intended to help organizations achieve the highest level of performance possible, increase healthy behavior change in eligible individuals and create an environment of continuous improvement.

NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations, and its Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement toll in health care. NCQA Accreditation is a voluntary process that involves a rigorous review of the key functions wellness and health promotion organizations perform. The review focuses specifically on areas of interest to consumers and employers, including how wellness programs are implemented in the workplace, how services such as health coaching are provided to help eligible individuals develop skills to make healthy choices, and how sensitive health information of eligible individuals is properly safeguarded. A team of experts conducts the Accreditation Surveys, which include rigorous on-site and off-site evaluations of 12 standards. A national oversight committee of physicians then analyzes the team's findings and assigns an accreditation level based on the performance level of each organization being evaluated to NCQA’s standards. Using standardized program measures allows employers to make informed comparisons when choosing among several wellness vendors.

“I congratulate GuideWell Connect for distinguishing itself by earning Wellness & Health Promotion Accreditation. This achievement signals to employers that GuideWell Connect is organized and ready to improve workforce health,” explained Margaret E. O’Kane, President of NCQA. “Savvy employers know that the health and wellbeing of their workforce is a critical asset.”
